Summary: Only 10% of people with Chagas disease are diagnosed and only 1% receive timely treatment. In Argentina, progress has been made in reducing cases thanks to various public health interventions. The authors of this manuscript document their experience of implementing a diagnostic algorithm in Robles, Santiago del Estero. Between November 2021 and June 2022, rapid diagnostic tests were performed on 1,380 individuals. Blood samples were taken from the 48 people with a positive test, along with 116 with a negative test. Conventional serology confirmed infection in those with a positive rapid diagnostic test and the estimated number of missed infections was low (4-5). Implementing rapid testing would facilitate diagnosis in resource-limited and difficult-to-reach areas, contributing to disease control.
